Recycling

For Nordqvist, responsibility in environmental matters is extremely important and we are rapidly moving towards more ecological material options. For example, we have already started using paper protective covers instead of plastic ones for some of our tea bag products. The work to promote ecology at Nordqvist continues, but in order to ensure product safety, we want to make our choice of materials carefully and thoughtfully.

The teas from Nordqvist Oy's Hot and Cold tea series and Christmas calendars are packed in a plastic-free pyramid bag made of natural material, biodegradable corn starch mass. Biodegradable wood fiber made from paper is used in other Nordqvist tea bag qualities.

All our tea bags are plastic-free, so they do not contain micro- or nano-plastics.

Recycling of tea bag packaging

Nordqvist's tea bag packages and tags are made of cardboard and can either be burned or sorted into the cardboard collection.

Also, a large part of the protective covers of Nordqvist's tea bags are mostly made of paper and can be sorted for cardboard recycling.

The protective covers of tea bags containing plastic and aluminum from Moomin products are sorted into the plastic collection at Rinki Oy's eco points or at the plastic collection organized by HSY for residential properties in the capital region. Another option is to dispose of the packaging together with mixed waste, where it is burned and utilized as energy.

The tea bag itself can be recycled with organic waste. Any staples in the tea bag will be sorted for metal collection.

Recycling of leaf tea packages

The plastic packaging of loose-leaf tea products is sorted for the plastic collection at Rinki Oy's eco-points or for the plastic collection organized by HSY for residential properties in the capital region. Another option is to dispose of the packaging together with mixed waste, where it is burned and utilized as energy.
